April 2025 Update: My Ongoing Research and Learning Journey in Artificial Intelligence - TGH Technology and Business Portal/Blog

April 2025 Update: My Ongoing Research and Learning Journey in Artificial Intelligence

On the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI), I’ve been conducting research and deepening my learning since 2023, focusing on two key areas: technology (both consumer and enterprise) and business industries. These are featured under the TGH Technology Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, the impacts on photography, videography, and creative industries are covered under the TGH Photography Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Since 2023, I’ve published articles featuring in-depth Q&A interviews and announcements on AI developments from various technology organisations. While there has been a slowdown in my AI-related writing recently, I’m working to get back on track in 2025—starting with this April update.

Recap of Two Key In-Depth AI Interview Articles from 2023

Here’s a quick recap of two key in-depth interview articles I published in 2023:

  1. Q&A on the Impacts of AI – Covering the human side of AI and the growing fear around it.
  2. Q&A on the Impacts of AI on Photography and Creative Industries

Over the past two years, there’s been a steady stream of developments and major breakthroughs in AI and Generative AI (GenAI), which is now a more commonly used term in both public and professional discussions.

It feels like the right time to follow up on those 2023 interviews. So, which areas or industries will I be focusing on in 2025?

I’ve received a number of AI media updates from various technology organisations. Currently, I’m consolidating and reorganising my AI/GenAI coverage for the technology and business sectors.

IBM

First up, I’m working on an article based on my recent IBM Industry 4.0 media tour, which took place in March 2025. The session, titled “What’s Next for Industry 4.0? IBM Panel Discussion Highlights on the Role of AI”, was incredibly informative. It offered deep insights into how AI is being integrated into industry sectors—some of which the general public may not even be aware of.

I’m thankful to IBM for inviting me to IBM Think Day in both 2023 and 2024. These events were eye-opening and provided valuable perspectives on how AI is being implemented in B2B settings.

Dell

Dell has also been a longstanding technology partner, and I’m truly appreciative of the relationship we’ve built over the years since the early days of my TGH Technology & Business portal/blog.

As I expanded into enterprise technology and later AI, my engagement with Dell—especially through their Dell Technologies Forum—has been instrumental in helping me understand how they are leveraging AI for their clients. These forums have consistently been informative and insightful.

CheckGPT

In February 2025, I received an email pitch from a group of NTU Communication Studies undergraduates about CheckGPT, a student-led generative AI (GAI) literacy campaign. This initiative, supported by the National Youth Council and endorsed by The Gen-C, aims to improve awareness of AI in education.

I’m impressed by their initiative and the meaningful work they’ve done. When the opportunity arises, I’ll be sharing more about CheckGPT. Meanwhile, check out their Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/checkgpt.sg

Other Technology Companies

I’m also in contact with PR agencies representing enterprise tech clients, who regularly update me with AI-related media news. I plan to incorporate their updates into my upcoming AI writing schedule.

The impact of GenAI on photography, videography, and creative industries is becoming more visible, especially as GenAI platforms evolve in their ability to generate digital art and images. A recent example that caught widespread attention was OpenAI’s Studio Ghibli-style AI, which sparked both fascination and backlash due to its uncanny ability to replicate a beloved art style.

As a photographer, vlogger, and content creator, I continue to wrestle with both the possibilities and uncertainties that GenAI introduces to the creative world. While GenAI does assist with certain workflows and digital image creation, I recognise that some creative genres may eventually be replaced by it.

What’s Next in 2025 for TGH Technology & Photography AI Series?

Looking ahead in 2025, I plan to produce more in-depth articles in collaboration with IBM and Dell, covering AI technology use cases, impacts, and insights. I also aim to connect with PR friends to explore stories that align with my AI research and writing direction.

In the creative space, I’ll follow up on my earlier Q&A article regarding AI’s impact on photography and creative industries. As I explore and write more about AI and GenAI, the scope continues to expand—touching diverse industries and workflows.

Some industries are becoming so advanced with AI that even professionals within them struggle to keep up with the latest developments. At the same time, I sense a growing divide: while organisations promote the benefits of AI/GenAI for work, business, and life, many end-users and consumers are becoming increasingly anxious about the threat of being replaced.

That’s a topic I intend to explore further—the human side of AI, its impact, and the fear it generates.

Final Thoughts

So, what’s next for the TGH Technology & Photography Research/Learning Series on AI in 2025?

My goal is to make my research and writing more in-depth while remaining grounded—helping end-users better understand and connect with both the positive and challenging aspects of GenAI/AI. How it can help, and how it might replace.

When it comes to GenAI/AI, I still sit on the fence. I’m thankful for how it enhances my work in content creation, business, and writing. Yet, I remain cautious about how it could replace parts of what I do.

That said, I will continue adapting and adopting GenAI into my business, creative work, and daily life—learning how to use it better and more meaningfully.

* Oh yes, by the way, I got ChatGPT to review and proofread my article, helping me to improve my final article writeup! The digital images are generated using Adobe FireFly, with the help of GenAI prompts to produce an image each for TGH Technology & Business and TGH Photography. *
