Look no further, Samsung Electronics Singapore is launching the 9100 PRO in Singapore, its first consumer SSD series that supports PCIe® 5.0, with sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s respectively. The Samsung 9100 PRO is Samsung’s fastest consumer SSD to date, delivering best-in-class performance high-productivity multi-tasking on laptops, gaming PCs and game consoles.

Samsung 9100 PRO Series PCIe® 5.0 SSD 

The Samsung 9100 PRO Series PCIe® 5.0 SSD comes in 4 capacity types – 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB. They cater to users who need faster access speeds for parallel data processing workloads on their laptop or PC, especially professional creators who handle Artificial Intelligence (AI) based content.

Gamers that enjoy extreme gaming experiences will also benefit from Samsung 9100 PRO Series PCIe® 5.0 SSD high-performance and extended storage capacity.

Enhanced Performance and Improved Power Efficiency

With PCIe® 5.0 support, the Samsung 9100 PRO is almost twice as fast as the previous generation, delivering sequential read and write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 13,400 MB/s respectively (990 PRO PCIe® 4.0 4TB’s sequential read speed is 7,450MB/s). The SSD’s random read and write speeds also get boosts with up to 2,200K IOPS and 2,600K IOPS, respectively.

Power efficiency for the Samsung 9100 PRO is 49% better than the previous generation due to the SSD’s enhanced heat management solution. This would make the 9100 PRO 2TB’s sequential read and write power efficiency is 1,822 and 1,703 MBs/s per Watt, respectively, while 990 PRO 4TB’s sequential read and write is 1,221 and 1,255 MBs/s per Watt, respectively.

Overheating Prevention, Expanded Storage Capacity and Broad Device Compatibility

The 1TB, 2TB and 4TB models of the 9100 PRO also come with a 8.8mmT Heatsink that complies with the PCISIG® D8 standard specification, enabling easier thermal control and prevent overheating.

Separately, the 9100 PRO’s 8TB model features a thicker 11.25mmT heatsink and is Samsung’s first NVMe SSD to offer the expanded capacity, providing support for a variety of gaming experiences as well as next-generation game development and content creation.

Samsung Magician Software Support

To help users optimise and enhance the functionality of Samsung SSDs, the 9100 PRO will come with Samsung Magician software support, which helps streamline data migration for SSD upgrades, provide data protection, drive health monitoring, and enable timely notifications for firmware updates.

Pricing and Availability

The Samsung 9100 PRO SSD series are available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models. They will be available from 4th April 2025 via Samsung Online Store, the Samsung Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, as well as selected consumer electronics stores. The 8TB model will be available from June 2025.
